HELP THE ‘TOUR DE ROOF’ TEAMSMASH THEIR FUNDRAISING TARGET

A team of 16 riders, made up of SIG Roofing employees and suppliers, has taken part in a gruelling two-day, 200-mile charity bike ride challenge to raise funds for two charities: the Band of Builders and PASIC.

This is the third year that SIG Roofing has brought together a growing team to support these charities. This year, they set off from SIG Roofing Colchester to catch the overnight ferry to Holland, starting the challenge on 18th June. On the first day, they completed 103 miles to their overnight stop in Cuijk, Netherlands, followed on the second day by a ride to Dortmund in Germany — a total of 200 miles completed.

By the end of the challenge, their initial fundraising target of £25,000 had been surpassed, but the fundraising page will remain open until September to maximise donations. All monies raised will be shared equally between the Band of Builders, which offers wellbeing, financial, and project support to those in the construction industry, and PASIC, a charity supporting families whose children have received a cancer diagnosis.

Daniel Anstey, Managing Director of SIG Roofing Northern Division, who took part in the challenge, commented:

“There are some experiences that are almost impossible to put into words, and this is one of them. It was one of the toughest physical and mental challenges I've taken part in, and riding in temperatures reaching 38°C, we faced everything the road could throw at us. We experienced punctures, crashes, bleeding, aching muscles, and parts of our bodies that simply stopped working. Some of the team spent over 13 hours in the saddle each day. Yet nobody gave up.

What I'll remember most isn't the miles or the pain; it's the people. Friendships have been forged that will last a lifetime. Every single one of us dug deep, encouraged each other, and refused to let anyone be left behind. We simply couldn't have done it without one another. Knowing that every pedal stroke helped raise money for two incredible charities made every climb, every headwind, and every moment of suffering worthwhile.

I couldn't be prouder to have shared this journey with such an amazing group of people. Thank you to every rider, our fantastic support driver, and everyone who supported us along the way. This is something I'll never forget, and together, we proved that ordinary people can achieve extraordinary things when they work as one.”

The 2026 cycling team included Dale Gowing, Gary Smith, Gemma Prince, George Stewart, Nigel Sinon, Paul Brooks, Roger Kittle, Stuart Davis, Dan Anstey and Alun James from SIG, and Pedro Ramos (BMI), Dan Weit (Marley) Paul Walters (ALM), Dylan McConnell (Permavent), Emily Badger (WB/Sandtoft), Gavin Crane (Band of Builders) and Dustin Ward from SIG Roofing as Chef/Driver.

A big thank you to everyone who has followed and supported the Tour De Roof team’s journey, and to all who have donated so far. It has all helped us smash this years target. The donation line is still open at https://www.givewheel.com/fundraising/12202/sig-roofing-tour-de-roof-2006-colchester-to-dortmu/ every pound counts!
