Mira Showers is delighted to announce its innovative Mira Select Flex mixer shower has won an iF Design award. Having been run since 1954, the iF Design awards contest is one of the most prestigious design competitions in the world, recognising outstanding product innovation and quality.
With inclusive living increasingly gaining importance in bathroom and shower design, the Mira Select Flex mixer shower utilises a traditional surface-mounted concentric mixer while focusing on accessibility, inclusivity and ease of use. Expanding the range of tactile and visual cues to aid user navigation and use, the Select Flex creates a much more accessible and enjoyable showering experience.
Catering for a broad range of visual impairments and physical disabilities, the Select Flex is safe and easy to use, whether standing, seated, or being assisted by a carer. For instance, this innovative and safe mixer shower features an easy-grip loop handle lever for temperature, a low-friction slide bar for easy, one-handed adjustment of shower head height and a simple push-button actuation to enable consistent flow and temperature control every time the shower is used.
Additionally, the shower’s visuals and detents have been designed and developed in conjunction with the Royal National Institute of Blind People to ensure it is optimised for those with visual impairments. In fact, it is the only RNIB ‘Tried and Tested’ accredited mixer shower.
Dave Pixton, Senior Industrial Designer, at Mira Showers said the company was absolutely thrilled to win the award and recognised the importance of continually focusing on innovation and the drive to further improve quality and safety standards. They said: “We’re incredibly proud, not only of winning the award, but also the Mira Select Flex mixer shower itself. This innovative and easy to use shower exemplifies inclusive design and makes showering accessible for everyone.
“The iF Design awards are some of the most prestigious awards in our industry and are a superb way of encouraging and inspiring others to focus on truly innovative and inclusive new products.”
