Mira Advance Heatloop - The UK’s first electric shower to be compatible with Recoup WWHRS

Developed and manufactured by industry leaders Mira Showers, the new Mira Advance HeatloopTM is the first ever electric shower to be designed to work with Recoup waste water heat recovery for shower systems (WWHRS), revolutionising waste water efficiency and reducing energy wastage.

While showering represents around 50 to 75% of household hot water use, around 85% to 90% of the heat energy in shower water actually ends up going down the drain. With research from the Energy Saving Trust revealing that heating water at home also makes up about 5% of the UK’s carbon emissions, it’s never been more important to identify a way of reusing that lost heat to save energy and reduce energy bills for end users to support the decarbonisation of UK homes.

The need to introduce more energy efficient and cost-effective systems into the home is further exacerbated by the impact the cost-of-living crisis has had on peoples’ finances, especially those living in social housing. Even the slightest adjustment to everyday tasks, such as showering, and their resultant costs, could make a huge difference.

With that in mind, Mira Showers has just launched the Mira Advance HeatloopTM. This innovative new electric shower incorporates pioneering technologies to facilitate compatibility with WWHRS, a first for the UK.

The installation of Mira Advance HeatloopTM in conjunction with a waste water heat recovery unit will enable local councils and housing authorities to provide their tenants with an enhanced showering experience that also has sustainability and energy efficiency at its core.

As a result, it will play an important role in the reduction of energy consumption and the resultant energy bills. In fact, when installed in conjunction with a Recoup Pipe Hex system, average annual savings of up to 40% can be achieved – saving around £135 per year.

While conventional electric showers are not able to adjust to changes to elevated incoming water conditions, making them unsuitable for installation with WWHRS, the Mira Advance HeatloopTM features intelligent monitoring which instantly automatically adjusts power based on the incoming conditions. This makes it the first electric shower on the market that can be used with a WWHRS system.

Safely recycling the energy from WWHRS, the Mira Advance HeatloopTM adapts to fluctuations in temperature and flow, so users enjoy consistent performance and temperatures, with no sudden cold or scalding blasts.

The Mira Advance HeatloopTM technology combined with a waste water heat recovery system works particularly well in the cooler months. Compensating for any winter fluctuations in flow, the Mira Advance HeatloopTM ensures around 35% better performance in winter, compared to conventional electric showers, and a maintained performance throughout the entire year.

Perfect for social housing decarbonisation projects

With the UK Green Building Council revealing that around 29 million homes across the UK will need retrofitting before 2050, bathrooms nationwide will likely need updating and enhancing to meet the Government’s net zero target in the upcoming 26 years.

Simple to install even in older, hard-to-treat housing where other solutions may be impractical or more expensive, the Mira Advance HeatloopTM offers proven, stabilised results throughout the year, making it the first choice for local authorities and housing agencies requiring extensive decarbonisation upgrades across the UK.

Able to be installed simply and quickly, including as a shower over a bath, the Mira Advance HeatloopTM can be included as part of any energy efficiency upgrades and modular installation solutions, alongside a Recoup waste water heat recovery unit, whilst giving tenants savings on their household bills and consistent showering performance.

Indeed, Mira Showers’ commitment to quality includes real-life testing on trial sites to provide peace of mind in regards to usability and energy performance.

Cost effective energy savings with no change in user behaviour

Providing a consistent showering experience, with no fluctuations in temperature or flow, the Mira Advance HeatloopTM ensures a more energy efficient performance.

Consequently, the end user will save vital expenditure on their energy bills, without requiring any change to user behaviour. Alex Hyslop, Marketing Director at Mira Showers, said: “We’re thrilled to be introducing the new Mira Advance HeatloopTM. This pioneering product has been designed to specifically work with Recoup waste water recovery products reducing the amount of energy used per shower, supporting UK decarbonisation and household bills.”

“It will not only help specifiers, local authorities and housing associations, but it will also reduce energy bills for the end users.”

Working in partnership with WWHRS systems, such as the Recoup HeatdeckTM, which is launching later this year, the Mira Advance HeatloopTM is an ideal addition to any existing building as part of a retrofitting project.
