Firefly stands four square at London Build Expo

Historians will know how ‘Forming Square’ proved a useful defence during the Napoleonic Wars, but FIREFLY^® adopted a modern interpretation of the tactic at this year’s London Build Expo by positioning its latest product launches at the corners of its striking stand.   

The Rochdale based manufacturer whose flexible fire barrier systems such as Zeus and Titan Lite are to be found providing compartmentation in commercial, industrial and other buildings across the country, has been steadily adding to the functionality and versatility of its passive fire protection range.  Specialist fire contractors and other past customers will though, have recognised some of the primary materials used.

The new FIREFLY^® FB180 Raised Access Floor System, for instance makes extensive use of the company’s fully proven ablative batts to provide up to 240 minutes protection against the spread of flames within computer floors or even infrastructure projects like tunnels.   Then up above, the lightweight Apollo Lite 30:30 has been repurposed to enhance compartmentation and smoke control across suspended ceilings.  Fully tested to BS 476 Part 22, the flexible membrane is easy to install and will deliver 30 minutes integrity and insulation.

Turning their attention to vulnerable construction joints, the company^’s engineers have developed FIREFLY^® Span as a high-performance joint seal which will halt the spread of fire, smoke and also sound.  Impregnated with intumescent graphite, the compressible foam material expands on exposure to heat to effectively seal gaps in protecting multiple joint types in walls and floors.

Crucial battles can, of course, turn on tight situations and the fourth product paraded on the FIREFLY^® stand displays a one-sided version of the mineral wool batt – the FB160 – which can be cut to shape and deployed where access is difficult.    It is ideal for use in property types from hospitals and care homes, to plant rooms and heritage settings.    Whatever the situation or the period of protection sought, FIREFLY^® will likely have a cost- effective solution in its ranks.
