Rochdale-based TBA FIREFLY has introduced a new range of four-hour fire collars, which offers
specifiers and specialist installers a single source of supply to address multiple compartmentation
challenges.

The FIREFLY FCR Fire Collars feature the use of in-house produced high-performance graphite,
housed in a corrosion-resistant, powder-coated steel sleeve, to deliver high volume expansion and
exert a pressure seal on pipework penetrations.
Not only will the range effectively close off vulnerable soil, waste and other types of pipe in the event
of a fire, but the devices are fully tested in combination with FIREFLY’s flexible barriers and wall or
floor batts. The range covers six sizes from FCR50 up to FCR160, and offers compliance with BS EN1366 -3 2021, while the rapidly expanding graphite can hold fire back for 240 minutes.
The FCR50 – FCR160 Fire Collars are likely to be used in combination with the manufacturer’s well
proven and fully tested fire barriers, such as Titan Lite 120:60, which are installed to create fire walls
rising to the underside of existing roof structures and within other vulnerable spaces, being installed
using steel angles and ancillary products like fire resistant adhesive, staples and intumescent sealant.
Such barriers can also feature FIREFLY Collaroll, Penowrap and the new FB180 Ablative Batts, which
can also be used within floor build-ups.
Midlands-based Krasi Fire Protection is a regular user of FIREFLY systems in both commercial and
multiple-occupation residential properties. Contracts Manager Daniel Oldacre said: “We see this as a
very positive move by FIREFLY in being able to offer its own brand of fire collar. It ticks all the boxes,
being able to use the same manufacturer to supply a complete system that is fully tested. It looks
better for the end client and we are starting to install the FCR Fire Collars now.”
Manufactured from woven and non-woven glass, the FIREFLY range of flexible barriers is designed to
optimise resistance to flame and smoke, as well as offer heat protection in a wide range of scenarios.
The barriers are easy to install horizontally or vertically using a full selection of FIREFLY ancillary
products to create a fully tested and certified system.
