A sound night's sleep at Airport City Tribe Hotel with Pyroguard Protect

Set in the heart of Airport City Manchester’s hotel district, TRIBE is a new hotel placing an emphasis on guest comfort, with Pyroguard’s toughened solution chosen to help meet the challenge.

Once completed, the nine-storey Tribe Hotel will provide guests with 412 bedrooms and suites, a restaurant and bar, gym and a crew lounge for airline staff.

At the centre of the hotel is a glazed internal atrium, leading from the main lobby area and around which many of the hotel rooms are located. With these rooms offering views out onto the atrium, it was essential that the windows were constructed from fire-rated glazing to ensure the future safety of guests, requiring 60 minutes integrity and insulation protection.

At the core of the design brief was the need to create a peaceful and quiet environment and, given the hotel’s close proximity to Manchester Airport, acoustic performance was another critical specification requirement.

OWS was responsible for designing, manufacturing and installing all fire-rated glazing systems, working closely with main contractor MY Construction to help them meet the required levels of compliance.

Installed within an aluminium frame, Pyroguard Protect EI60 was specified across 98 windows throughout the hotel rooms.
